Drain Drizzler

Your algae’s gone

with Algaenon

Instructions for DD Pro

These instructions are intended for A/C Professionals or Electricians

The versatile Drain Drizzler PRO model can accept a range of power sources, including:

  1. 12-24 VAC from bell transformer.
  2. 24 VAC from Air Handler transformer.
  3. 12 VDC from a DC adapter.

We suggest you blow out the drain line before you start.

YOU WILL NEED:

A Drain Drizzler PRO Kit

Wire strippers

Drill and 5/32” (4 mm) drill bit

Phillips (#2) and small blade screwdrivers

White vinegar

YOU MAY NEED:

Faston crimp fork #6 (for some Bell Transformers)

Faston crimp piggyback 1/4″ (for most Air Handlers)

Faston crimp piggyback 3/16″ (for some Air Handlers)

Additional wire and clips (for some installs)

Additional vinyl tubing (for some installs)

Hand crimp tool

(Available in Pro Installation Kit, coming soon)

STEP 1:  INSTALL THE DRAIN BARB

Locate the A/C condensate drain coming out of the handler. Drill a 5/32” (4 mm) hole through the TOP of the pipe (or fitting) close to the air handler, as shown by the red spots.

***DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE PIPE***

Screw the M5 thread-forming screw (left) into the 5/32” (4 mm) hole and remove it. Gently screw the barb (right) into the threaded hole finger-tight only.

STEP 2:  MOUNT THE DRAIN DRIZZLER

Find a suitable location that allows the power cord and vinyl tubing to reach. The Drain Drizzler can be placed on a shelf and may also be screwed in place. You can attach Drain Drizzler to any vertical surface using the mounting holes provided.

Drain Drizzler can pump up or down to the Tee barb.

Step 3:  ATTACH VINYL TUBING

Connect one end of the vinyl tubing to the pump outlet barb. Connect the other end to the Tee and put the Tee above the drain barb as shown. The Tee and tubing should be approximately vertical.

Cut vinyl tubing to length or extend if necessary.

Step 4:  PICK A POWER SOURCE

The versatile Drain Drizzler PRO can accept a range of power sources, including:

a) 12-24 VAC from bell transformer.

b) 24 VAC from Air Handler transformer.

c) 12 VDC from a DC adapter.

See below for detailed instructions.

*** DO NOT USE 110V ***

Step 4a:  AC POWER USING A BELL TRANSFORMER

Strip the ends of the white wire and connect to a convenient 12-24 VAC doorbell transformer. Carefully feed the wire from the power source to the Drain Drizzler, using cable clips for neat routing, and grommets if the wire passes through a panel.

Cut the wire to length. Then pass the wire behind the front panel and forward through the grommet. Strip the ends, and wire into the screw terminal. This is AC so it doesn’t matter which wire goes in which terminal.

For best results, use crimp terminals like a fork for doorbell transformers and piggyback crimps for Air Handler transformers. Crimps are shown above in the YOU MAY NEED section and available in the PRO Installation Kit.

*** DO NOT USE 110V ***

Step 4b: AC POWER USING AIR HANDLER TRANSFORMER

Wiring to the Air Handler transformer should only be done by an A/C Professional or an Electrician. Opening the Air Handler may invalidate the warranty. Check voltage with a meter until you find 24VAC. It may read up to 30VAC if the transformer is not under load. Turn off power at the contact breaker before opening the Air Handler.

Make sure you tap the 24VAC secondary as shown, and NOT the 110VAC primary with black and white wires.

Carefully feed the wire from the transformer to the Drain Drizzler, using cable clips for neat routing, and grommets if the wire passes through a panel.

Cut the wire to length. Then pass the wire behind the front panel and forward through the grommet. Strip the ends, and wire into the screw terminal. This is AC so it doesn’t matter which wire goes in which terminal.

*** DO NOT USE 110V ***

Step 4c:  DC POWER USING A POWER ADAPTER

If there is no convenient low voltage AC, the Drain Drizzler PRO can also use DC power. Plug a 12VDC adapter into the nearest outlet and this time use the black DC barrel connector. The next picture shows the DC barrel and AC screw terminal connectors.

*** USE ONLY 12VDC ***

Step 5:  ADD VINEGAR

Unscrew the cap and lift out the intake tubing. Remove the bottle. Fill with any White Vinegar. Replace the bottle with the label facing the back and screw on the lid. Make sure that the intake pipe is at the bottom of the bottle. The 16 oz (500 ml) reservoir can last all Summer.

We suggest you check the vinegar level every few months, but particularly before the start of the Summer algae season.

***KEEP NASTY CHEMICALS AWAY FROM CHILDREN***

Register your Drain Drizzler and we will remind you to check the white vinegar level.

Step 6:  PRIME THE PUMP

The pump primer switch is behind the hole on the control box cover. Using the supplied wooden rod, press the primer switch until vinegar flows along the vinyl tubing to the barb, then stop.

Note that when the pump is running the  bottle is illuminated allowing you to see the vinegar level. You can briefly press the primer switch to check white vinegar level in dark areas.

FINISHED!
